Sergio Sadaba is a graduate engineer based in our Dubai office.
Sergio is Spanish and studied for a BEng in Building Services
Engineering at London South Bank University. He joined Mott
MacDonald in 2003 working in our head office in Croydon on a range
of building projects including the development at Brighton
Marina.
In 2006 he moved to our Dubai office to work as assistant engineer
on and a range of projects including the design of Dubai Investment
Park’s district cooling plant, which includes thermal storage and
will be one of the first systems of this kind to be commissioned in
the UAE.
“Since I was young, I have been fascinated by construction
sites. One that particularly impressed me was the construction of
the Guggenheim Museum landmark building in my
home city of Bilbao ”
"Although I decided early on that I wanted to go into
engineering I also had a passion for American Football and spent my
early twenties combining my first job with a small local domestic
contractor company in the north of Spain with playing football.
Through determination, hard work and discipline I achieved the
highest level I could as an amateur football player and played for
the Spanish national team in the Four Nations Championship in
France .”
“I am a real example of the Mott MacDonald training policy. The
company took me on because of my building services experience
in Spain and this enabled me to continue my studies.
After my graduation I took part on the Mott MacDonald graduate
scheme and spent three months in Dubai gaining
further international experience”.
His skills in building advanced analyses including Computational
Fluid Dynamics (CFD) are being fully used in Dubai where projects
have complex façades and control of energy is the most important
criteria.
“As a truly global company Mott MacDonald has been able to
accommodate my desire to continue my development as an engineer in
the international market with a long term transfer to our
Dubai office. At the end of this period I expect to be
ready to achieve both Chartered Engineer and European Engineer
status. I am also continuing my development by studying for a
postgraduate degree in Sustainable Building
Design, a true interest that both Mott MacDonald and I
share.”
